Curaçao owes its existence to the sea. The strategic location and the natural harbor made the island a major maritime and trade center from early history.
The museum is located in a mansion built in 1729 at the Waaigat inlet just above the floating market. The exhibitions include antique miniatures, 17th-century ship models and maps, some of which date back to 1500.
In addition to being able to take a guided tour of the museum, you can also take a cruise through the port area every Wednesday and Saturday at 2:00 PM. The museum is open from Monday to Saturday from 9 AM to 4 PM.
