Beaches on Curacao

Curacao has more than 30 beaches and beautiful bays where you can relax. The temperature of the water is always nice and Curacao has few cloudy, let alone rainy days. That is why Curacao is the number 1 for a wonderful holiday in the sun. Especially towards Westpunt you will find many natural bays. For some beaches you don’t have to pay an entrance fee, you only pay for a sun bed/umbrella. The more touristy beaches do require an entrance fee. Here you will often find more facilities such as shops, diving schools, restaurants and, for example, spa treatments. In addition, you also have bays where you will not find any facilities at all, but you can take all your stuff with you. You might even have the beach all to yourself 🙂

1. Blue Bay Beach

A snow-white beach, swaying palm trees which provide enough shade, happy hours, beach bar, restaurants, dive shop and 2 beautiful coral reefs in front of the door where you can admire the beautiful underwater world. You will find various facilities at Blue Bay:

2. Jan Thiel Beach

Jan Thiel Beach is a lovely beach on Curacao to enjoy the sun, a cooling drink or a culinary meal at the Beach club or the restaurant called Zanzibar. This beach is located east of Willemstad near the Jan Thiel district. There are regular performances here by Dutch artists or DJ’s and the regular happy hour is on Saturdays. 3. Playa Porto Mari

Playa Porto Mari is located near the town of Sint Willibrordus, located on the Porto Marie Bay. To reach the beach you first drive on the roads of the plantations of Port Mari, with its beautiful flora, to finally find the cooling of the Caribbean sea. A beautiful and cozy beach where snorkeling and diving is ideal. There are experiments with artificial coral reefs at Porto Marie, many artificial coral blocks have been placed to optimize the reef. 4. Grote Knip

Grote Knip, also called Playa Abou, is located in the west of the island. It is a beautiful large beach surrounded by rocks. The calm water is favorable for snorkelers, it is especially rich in fish on both sides of the rocks and the starting point of a coral reef. The facilities at a glance:

5. Playa Grandi

Playa Grandi means; See turtles! This small fishing beach is known for the many turtles that swim here. There is a fish auction place where they sell fresh fish. In recent years, the beach has become very famous among tourists. The facilities at a glance:

6. Sea Aquarium beach

Sea Aquarium Beach is the most famous beach of Curacao, named after the adjacent Sea Aquarium. This elongated sandy beach, 10 minutes from Willemstad, offers every convenience for sun worshipers. Even the radio station Dolfijn FM is located on this beach. At busy times, the beach is only accessible for a fee. Open air concerts are also often given on this beach, at the Madero Ocean Club, formerly known as Mambo Beach Club. The facilities at a glance:

7. Playa Kalki

Playa Kalki, also known as Playa Abou, is located on the west side of the island. It is a beautiful wide beach surrounded by cliffs. The water is favorable for snorkelers, especially near the cliffs you will find beautiful fish. The facilities at a glance:

8. Cas Abou Beach

Cas Abou Beach, also known as Bon Bini Beach, is a beautiful large natural beach and is well maintained. It’s a dream beach with swaying palm trees, azure blue water and snow-white sand and it’s also a top location for snorkeling. The facilities at a glance:

9. Karakter

Karakter is a lovely beach on the Coral Estate park. You can only reach the sea via the stairs and therefore it is not very suitable with children. But you can snorkel beautifully and the service is high. You do not have to pay an entrance fee and also no fee for the sun loungers and umbrellas. You are served at your beck and call. Above Karakter is a large infinity swimming pool and rooftop terrace where you can enjoy a delicious meal with a fantastic sea view. The pool is very suitable with children and from the pool you also have a magnificent view of the sea. The facilities at a glance:

10. Santa Barbara Beach

Santa Barbara Beach is a beautiful elongated sandy beach. It is accessible to everyone but you have to pay an entrance fee. The beach is beautiful and there is plenty of space to sunbathe. In the weekend many boats come to lie along the jetty to chill with friends and family. All fun. The facilities at a glance:
