How do I make a reservation for a holiday home?

On the website you can search by filling in the dates and the number of guest. Then click on “search” and you will get to see all the available holiday homes. Then you have the opportunity to refine the search criteria to, for example, a specific location and price. Having problems? How can I tell if an accommodation is available?

Every holiday home has its own calendar. The blue dates indicate that the house is still available. By clicking on the dates of arrival and departure you will get to see the total price of the holiday home.

Can I make more than one reservation at the same time?

Yes you can! Often it is convenient to have personal contact with us so that we know exactly what your wishes are. We also know exactly what holiday homes are near to each other. According to your wishes we search for the vacation rentals which best describes your wishes. But if you already know which accommodations you want to book  you can make multiple reservations on the website. Of course we make sure that you have to pay the reservation fee only once. Is my chosen accommodation directly available?

Where we manage the calendar for the owner, this is indeed the case. These are HRC+ villas. Otherwise we will contact the owner to check the availability. It might be that there has been a booking before with the owner and the holiday home is not available anymore. then we will search all available alternatives that are similar.

How do I book a last minute holiday?

In the same way as a regular booking. Also here we do where necessary, the last availability check with the owner and confirm as soon as possible. For bookings up to 6 weeks before arrival the full rental fee should be paid. View our last minutes offers.

Starting which age can you make a reservation?

The main booker must be at least 18 years old at the time of booking. The main booker is responsible and liable for all fellow travelers.

On what days can I arrive and depart?

You can arrive and depart on any day. The check-out time is generally 11:00 o’clock in the morning, the check-in time around 16:00 o’clock in the afternoon. Would you like a different check-in/check-out time or you can let us know. If possible we can arrange this for you (sometimes additional costs).

Can I cancel my reservation?

If you did not pay your down payment on your reservation the reservation is not final. At the time the first deposit payment has been done we follow our cancellation policy.

Do I pay reservation fees with each reservation?

The reservation fee is €29,-. When you make multiple bookings at the same time then you only pay the reservation fee one time. If you book a property with us and a rental car then you will receive the combi deal. You will receive 10% discount on the daily rate and no reservation fee for the car.

The accommodation

What is the guest maximum?

How many persons maximum allowed in a holiday home, you can read on our website. Children and babies are also included in this number. In some cases an extra (children’s) bed can be added. We can always inquire about this for you. If a number of people do not stay the entire period, but a few nights less, you can pass this on. We calculate any person allowance based on the actual number of nights they stay. If in doubt, always contact us, we are happy to think along with you. What is the inventory in my accommodation?

In all holiday homes you will find a standard inventory. With a standard inventory we mean: cutlery, glasses, plates, pans, beds, towels and furniture. Extras such as a Nespresso machine, beach towel, dryer etc. is explicitly indicated in the listing information/facilities. If you have specific questions you can always contact us

What kind of extra options are there for a reservation?

A lot is possible, such as a shopping package upon arrival, children Chair/cot. You can contact us about the things you would like to reserve for your stay.

Travel insurance

Do I need a cancellation insurance?

A cancellation insurance is always a good idea! Before departure something can always happen. We always recommend an insurance with worldwide coverage. With a cancellation insurance, you get (within the terms), the cancellation costs reimbursed if you need to cancel the holiday through as a result of a serious obstacles. For example, an accident, illness or the death of a family member. We will send you the information by email you need to submit the cancellation at your insurance company.

Prices and discounts

What is the exact price of a holiday home?

The rental price is made up in the base price per night, in some cases an additional price per extra person, last minute discount and/or high season charge. This makes the total rental price. The mandatory local tax is calculates on the rental price . The mandatory final cleaning fees and reservation fees are also added. The deposit per holiday home is different. This amount will be used for (over-consumption) of water and electricity or any damages. The deposit minus consumption of water and electricity or damages will be sent back to you in 7 days after you have left.

Why and how much do I have to pay for water and electricity?

Some owners have processed their water/electricity costs in the base price. When water and electricity is excluded in the rental price the base price per night is less and you pay for what you use. We will write down the meter reading together at check in and check out. In some cases, the owner partly includes some water and electricity.

Why is water and electricity not included?

Water and electricity are very expensive on the island and are therefore not included in the standard base price to avoid unnecessary additional consumption and of course it’s better for the environment. Upon arrival, the meter readings are measured together. The (more) consumption will be settled with the deposit. You pay for what you really use. Average use of electricity is 10 KWh (€4,-) per bedroom per night. Sometimes owners have some water and/or electricity included, this is the basic consumption of the holiday home excludes the air conditioning. Tip: to keep the cost down, we advise you to consciously use the air conditioning. Turn the air conditioning on 15 minutes before you go to bed and around 25 degrees. The lower you set the air conditioning the more consumption there is. When you wake up in the morning, remember to turn off the air conditioning.

Confirmations and payments for holiday home

How do I know if my online booking has been received?

You will receive an automatic reply directly in your mailbox, then you’ll know for sure that we receives you information or reservation request.

When is my reservation final?

Your reservation is final after we have sent you an email that we have received your 40% down payment.

How can I make the payment?

You can pay us by wire/bank transfer, visa or master card and PayPal.

When do I have to make the payment?

We ask for a down payment of the total rental price, including the deposit. 6 weeks before your arrival we will sent you a payment reminder for the other 60% payment.

Do I get a confirmation of my payment?

When we receive your payment you will get a confirmation from us by email. Did you not get a confirmation please contact us.

Why didn't I get a confirmation?

In case you did not receive a confirmation, please check your spam box or email us through our contact form.

Changes or cancellations

Can I change my reservation?

Can I change the number of guests?

If one of the fellow travelers cannot come along, it is possible to bring someone else. Please let us know, we can inform the staff on site. An extra fellow traveler? There might be additional costs, this can be found on the website under “prices”. Also, make sure that the holiday home is suitable for the new number of people. You can pass this on by contacting us.

How can I make a cancellation?

It may happen, that you have to cancel your holiday due to circumstances. In this case always contact us by email or call us on + 5999-5132267. A cancellation often brings a cancellation fee. These costs (if applicable) you can find in our conditions.

Before departure

When do I receive my travel documents?

We will send the travel documents after we received the total payment. At last-minute reservations we will send the travel documents immediately after receiving the payment. The travel documents consist of: an accompanying e-mail, the directions to the holiday address, your contact person listed on the invoice which you can call when you depart from the airport to the property. Tip: check your spam box, sometimes the email with travel documents is in there. Otherwise, you can always retrieve them using our contact form.

Do I get the directions to the holiday home?

You will receive the directions to your holiday home by mail. This is the route from Hato airport to the holiday address. Our advice is to download maps.me on your smartphone. This you can use (free) offline and works very well!

Can I bring a child with a different surname?

If you travel with a child younger than 15 years? This child has a different last name than the adult which it travels with? Then it is necessary that you bring a official statement. In this statement the other parent (with the same last name as the child)gives permission for the trip. Please note! Make sure that the statement is in English . Also bring along: a copy of the passport of the parent who gives permission. More information on an English-language statement you can find on the website of your Government.

Some tips before departure

On Curacao you can actually get anything. Here are a few tips before departure:

  • Activate your debit card for overseas. This you can do easily with your bank.
  • These days you can fill out your immigration form online (18 years and older). Otherwise you have to fill out this form in the plane. On Hato Airport you can then also use the E-gate. This row is often faster than through regular passport control. You can view a the video of how the E-gate works here.
  • Don’t forget world plugs. Some vacation rentals only have 110 Volt electrical outlets.
  • Euros are not accepted on Curacao. Dollars and Antilles guilders, are the means of payment. At the airport there is an ATM available to withdraw money. Dollars en Antillaanse guldens zijn het betaalmiddel.
  • Install maps.me before departure on your smart phone. This app works quite well as a navigational tool and is free and offline.

During the holiday

Is there an employee at the destination?

The caretaker of the holiday home often lives in the neighborhood. The Office of Holiday Rentals Curacao is located at: Kaya Boyo 128 Jan Thiel.

What are my additional costs on the spot?

If there are additional costs on the spot it is reported on the invoice. This may vary by holiday home. Grocerie packages you always pay upon arrival with the caretaker.

When can I check in and check out?

The arrival and departure times are listed on your invoice. We alwaysto have everything on your arrival. Sometimes it is not. Especially in larger holiday homes where there is check out/check in on the same day, the house is not yet ready yet and we are finishing the cleaning. Often you can wait on the porch until cleaning has finished. In consultation with the caretaker you can make an agreement on your check out time.

Who is my contact person on the island?

The caretaker of your vacation rental is your first contact on the island. The information of the caretaker are listed on the invoice. The caretaker is expecting a phone call from you once you depart from the airport. At that time the caretaker also sets off to the holiday home to you check you in and hand you keys. During your stay, you can ask them questions and/or comments. If you have problems you can also contact us via E-mail or telephone number + 5999-5132267.

My holiday home is not what I had expected, what can I do?

We do everything to make your holiday as pleasant as possible and select our holiday homes with the utmost care. Also if here is something wrong you can count on us. Please always report any problems always with the caretaker first to enable them to solve the problem. After the holiday

Do I receive a survey after my holiday?

After the holiday, you will receive a survey by email. We appreciate if you fill out the survey. Also the owner of the house would like to know how you experienced his/her property and is always open for valuable comments, tips and ideas.

How can I make a compliment or complaint?

Through our survey and facebook page, you can leave your review. Report a comment and/or complaint always first on site, usually a problem can be resolved soon. If you are not satisfied with the solution please contact us. We always do our best to find a solution. Don’t feel burdened to do this during your holiday! Afterwards, we cannot offer a suitable solution.

What do I do when I left something on the spot?

Did you forget something? It is best to first contact the caretaker on site. They can check immediately if what you are missing is actually still in the holiday home. If so, you can find a way to get your belongings back.

How long does it take before you return the security deposit?

As soon as we receive the check form from the caretaker we will refund the (remainder)deposit. It may be that by, for example, damage, there is no deposit. In this case we always contact you.

Car rental

How can I make a reservation for a rental car?

On the website you can fill in the form “quotation request car renting”. We will then send you a quote. Once you confirm this quote, we make the reservation for you.

What types of cars are available?

What is the minimum age for renting a car?

The minimum age for renting a car is 21 years old.

Can I pay of the deposit?

Yes you can! You can buy off the deposit for 15% of the deposit amount. The deductible is €350. The deposit surrender is then €52.50

Can I also rent a child seat?

Yes, we rent child seats for €2,50 per day. You can rent a high chair and/or booster seat for €2.50 per day.

What is the exact price for a rental car?

The rental price of a car is made up from the base price per day, mandatory local tax of 9%, booking costs, deposit and any extras such as a high chair. If you have also rented a holiday home with us you will receive 10% discount on the base price per day and we do not charge the reservation fee.

When is my reservation final?

You reservation is final once we received your down payment of 40% of the total amount.

How can I make the payment?

You can pay per bank (Ideal), Credit card (visa/master) or Pay Pal. A cash payment is not possible.

When do I have to make the payment?

We ask for a down payment of the total rental price, including the deposit. 6 weeks before your arrival we will sent you a payment reminder for the other 60% payment.

Do I get a confirmation of my payment?

In case you did not receive a confirmation, please check your spam box or send us an email through our contact form.

What are the drop-off times of the rental car?

The official delivery time of the rental car is 13:00 hours and 12:00 hours the drop-off time. If possible, other times are possible.

How does the drop-of work?

We deliver the rental car to your holiday address. Together we fill in the forms and explain some things about the traffic on Curacao. The forms are signed by both parties. When returning the car we check if the car has remained in the same condition as you received it.

What do I have to do when I return the car?

You only have to fill up the tank, you don’t have to wash it.

What kind of insurance do the rental cars have?

The rental cars are properly insured with a maximum own risk of €350,-

Are there any additional costs on the spot?

There are no additional costs, you only need to fill up the tank as you received it.

What should we do in the event of a breakdown, accident and/or damage?

In case of a breakdown we are a member of the 24/7 roadside assistance. They can help you for example with changing a tire or a defect battery. In the event of an accident, the Road service should be called. They observe the damages, this is necessary for the insurance. If you need our assistance can reach us at + 5999-5132267 (24/7). In all our rental cars are the data that you could possibly need.

How long does it take before you return the security deposit?

If there are no damages, you will receive the deposit within 1 week.

Information for homeowners

How can I sign up my holiday home?

In most cases it is possible to sign up for your property on our website. You can register your property by sending us a E-mail through our contact form. We will contact you and give you further information by email about our approach. If you are still interested we make an appointment to visit your property first. If we agree on listing your property we will proceed to place your property on the website.

What are the costs for an ad on your website?

To list your holiday home on our website is totally free! Only when we make a booking we ask a Commission percentage.

The holiday home will be listed, how do we proceed?

We will send you a form where you can fill in all your data. We will then make the rental agreement. When it signed by both parties we continue creating your ad. Once everything is ready, we will send you an email with the link to your home and your login. You can check if all is well listed.

How do I know when I have a reservation?

You will receive an email with the subject ‘ availability’. This email show the dates of the booking and the total rental price. We look forward receiving your agreement ASAP. After your agreement we will sent the guests an email that the house is reserved for them and send them the invoice with the question to the 40% payment. Once the 1st payment has been done, the final booking. You and the guest receive an email of this confirmation.

What do I do if my property is not available?

At the time your property is not available, you can email us. It is unpleasant of course to disappoint the guest when they have made their choice . But it can happen that you just received a booking. We will then contact the guests and search for an alternative.

I sold my home, what to do?

Congratulations on selling your property! If the new owner remains to rent out the holiday home existing bookings continue. You can mail us the contact data and we contact the new owner for the necessary data. If the house is no longer offered for rent then it is an option to finalize existing bookings before the transfer. If this is not possible then will have to transport existing bookings. According to our conditions, guests are entitled to an equivalent, or better accommodation in terms of comfort and/or price. The difference in price is paid by the homeowner. Go to the tab ‘houses’ and go to calendar. Here you can select the check in and check out dates and then save it, the calendar has been updated.

How can I change my data?

Under the data tab you can change your own data such as telephone number, bank details and/or password. We are notified of this.

How can I change the pictures in the add?

We are always happy with new photos so that our customers can get a good idea of your accommodation. You can send this via www.wetransfer.com to info@holidayrentalscuracao.com, preferably in the highest possible resolution. We will then have it edited for our site and send you an email as soon as the photos are online.

How can I change facilities in the add?

Important changes you can send us a email. As soon as possible we make the change on your advertisement and inform you once we have done this.

How can I change the prices in the add?

You can change your own high season charges. The base price, water/electricity and other changes you may pass by E-Mail. Once we have made the changes we will send you an email and you can check it for us. When we get no message we assume that everything is ok.
