Shopping on Curacao

In addition to all the great market stalls in Punda and Otrabanda, you will also find many great (brand) stores and souvenir shops. But Willemstad is not the only place where you can shop. There are many small shopping malls on Curacao where you can look around in the many different shops. We have made a top 10 of places where you can shop and have a nice lunch. Check them out below.

Sambil Shopping Center

In addition to approximately 90 shops, Sambil Curacao also has a bowling club, a trampoline park, a children’s amusement park, a baby corner, large food court, the Cinemark cinema and the newly opened Carrefour supermarket. There are also monthly agendas with a range of activities. Sambil has its own food corner. Here you can go to about 15 different eateries and therefore always get something delicious for everyone. Sambil Shopping Center is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 9pm, and on Sundays and public holidays from 12pm to 8pm.

Punda

Along the lively and picturesque streets and alleys of Punda you will find some of the best shops on the island, with a very wide range of jewelry, electronics, cosmetics, women’s and men’s fashion and local souvenirs. Punda hosts the famous Punda Vibes event every Thursday. The shops are then open, there is a market, live music and a fireworks show at the end. During your walk you will come across murals and beautiful art shops by local artists. A day in Punda means a day of shopping, art, sightseeing such as the ferry, and relaxing at one of the many cafes and terraces. The shops are open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 6pm. On Thursdays, several shops remain open until 8pm, and when cruise ships are in port, also on Sundays from 10am to 2pm.

Renaissance Mall and Rif Fort

The Renaissance Mall and the Rif Fort, located in the historic capital Willemstad, offer you Curacao’s most unique shopping and dining experience and great entertainment. The Renaissance Mall is home to the most luxurious brands in Curacao. With more than 50 stores you can shop till you drop. The Mall is located right in the heart of Willemstad with a covered parking space right next to it. It is a short walk from the pontoon bridge and next to the impressive Mega Pier, where huge Cruise Ships dock when they visit Curacao. The Rif Fort is part of the Unesco World Heritage Site with its historic and artistic atmosphere it now houses a variety of shops and eateries. There is evening entertainment from Tuesday to Saturday. The Shops are open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Otrabanda

Otrobanda literally means ‘the other side’. The district is, of course, on the other side of St. Anna Bay. The main shopping street in Otrobanda is the Breedestraat. You can find this street between Kurá Hulanda and the Rif Fort. Brionplein is the center of Otrobanda’s boulevard. When the ships are moored in the harbor, merchants set up their stalls on the quay. The shops are open from Monday to Saturday. From 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Bloempot shopping center

Bloempot shopping center is definitely worth a visit. Jewelers, luxury clothing and shoe stores, children’s fashion, lingerie, haute couture and much more. There are also two hair salons in the Bloempot Shopping Center and if you get tired and thirsty from shopping, Delifrance offers a variety of delicious sandwiches, wraps, salads and refreshing drinks! The shops are open from Monday to Saturday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Mambo Beach Boulevard

In addition to the great sandy beach, Mambo Beach Boulevard also offers many nice shops and restaurants. Buy beautiful gifts, treat yourself to a nice lunch or dinner in one of the restaurants or a drink in one of the many cafes or bars. A day at Mambo Beach guarantees a great holiday feeling. The shops are open: 7 days a week, from early in the morning until late at night.

Papagayo Beach Plaza

Papagayo beach plaza is a small-scale but versatile shopping plaza. The plaza consists of several restaurants, beach and sports bars, an Italian ice cream parlor, Sports & Health Club The Challenge, Laman spa & wellness, Diamond Beach Casino, a jewelry and gift shop, a souvenir shop and a supermarket. You can relax on the beach after shopping and have a nice lunch at papagayo restaurant, Zest beach cafe or Zanzibar. Papagayo beach plaza is open daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Promenade Shopping center

Promenade Shopping Center is an open air shopping center with a wide range of international brands. You will find clothing and shoe stores for women, men and children. You can also go here for watches, interior and a good bottle of wine. Enjoy breakfast or lunch at ‘de Dames’ or eat at Craving Sushi in the evening. The shops are open from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Salinja Galleries

After Punda, Salinja is the largest shopping area in Curaçao. Salinja is centrally located and consists of several small shopping areas where you can buy absolutely everything. The shops are at a distance from each other, making the car the most efficient way to visit the shopping area. You can enjoy a nice lunch in Salinja at the delifrance, subway or discover the ‘dushi spring roll’. The shops are open from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Zuikertuin Mall

A wide variety of shops and restaurants under one roof! Zuikertuin shopping center is the only shopping center in Curaçao with full air conditioning. It is located in a colonial mansion from 1870. There are 25 brand-name shops, five restaurants, a food court and an authentic Italian gelateria. The Zuikertuin Mall is open Monday to Saturday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM and every first Sunday of the month from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
